In this seminar you will learn all the techniques from one of NZ’s largest propagators of rhododendrons. After attending Jeff Elliott’s seminar you will know how to propagate from your own garden and how to “borrow” a piece from another plant in order to create your own cutting. Jeff will take you on a hands on tour behind the scenes and discuss how you can replicate their operation in your own home. Morning Tea provided. BYO pen & paper. 12.30 – 1.45pm Lunch for those staying on for Hybridisation Seminar 1.45pm – 4.45pm Hybridisation Seminar – Creating your own Unique rhododendron varieties
In this seminar you will learn from the man who bought NZ several well known and loved rhododendron hybrids. Jeff will teach you the mathematical formula behind creating a good hybrid and will show you that it isn’t just about choosing two plants you like the flower of and hoping that you will get a combination of both of them. This seminar is a fascinating insight into what is required to produce an excellent new rhododendron variety. Afternoon Tea provided. BYO pen and paper.

NURSERY EXPANSION OVER SUMMER MONTHS
With our nursery expanding every few months we were urgently needing more room to house rhododendrons. This Summer the family project has been to build a large shade house with a wooden slatted roof, this will keep the rhodos happy with plenty of sunlight still getting in so that we will continue to have a great set of buds produced. The filtered sun creates just the right amount of light and protection for plants underneath. The only trouble as you can see is that we have already outgrown the building before it is even completed.
We sell large Rhododendrons as well as starter grade options.
Todd from Urban Evolution collecting a very large rhododendron from our garden. Rhododendrons grow much better in the open ground than in tubs so we sell from the open ground as well. This grade of rhododendrons are available by request. Prices start at $130. Most of this grade cannot be freighted due to their size and weight so either need to be collected or we will tranport into CHCH for a fee. Roots are bound in plastic for transportation.
