Meet Craig Shearer, co-owner of RhodoDirect Rhododendron Nursery

Craig is a carer of all things living.  For over 25 years he has been caring for sheep and cattle, rhododendrons came a little later.

Craig is one of those men for whom you can honestly say "he is at one with the earth".  Craig loves farming, it is in his blood, he is a third generation farmer.  Craig works at Mt Paul, his father's large sheep and cattle farm, during the day.  Every evening Craig returns from Mt Paul and does another nearly full days work caring for the RhodoDirect nursery.

Visitors to the nursery comment on how fantastic our plants look, that is all because of the care and nurture that Craig provides.  He is a diligent water man, sprinklers are rotated and turned off and on, with the last shift often taking place in the middle of the night.  He isn't Mr Automatic, so he puts his feet up, relaxes by the telly, and shoots off every few hours to change over the watering to ensure the entire nursery is completely watered - every day!

RhodoDirect owes the quality of the plants to the care and diligence of Craig.

Craig is also the gardner at RhodoDirect, he takes care of all the spraying, peastrawing (sometimes with a team of helpers...)  and creation of new gardens.

craigingarden.jpg It was Craig who began the garden at Spring Farm over 17 years ago.  After visiting Woodchester and being smitten with rhodos, he came back to his own property and started planning the first of many gardens.  Craig started with the only hill that was on the property, but gave up when the water requirements seemed too much for the hillside, he converted his first rhodo garden into a conifer garden, which is thriving very well with conifers now.  Craig is one of the hardest workers on the planet.  All that you see when you visit RhodoDirect was created by one man's work
